WEIGH-IN REGULATIONS

All 8 Regions are using an Audit No Weigh In System for 2023-2024 Season

  • A wrestler shall declare his Weight Class at the time of on-line registration.  If you click the wrong weight class or need to make a change, you may do so up until the charts are posted on Saturday night.  Coaches only email to the head pairer of that tournament.  Actual weights will need to be inputted into the system.  The actual weight will determine the weight class of the participant without use of the 2lb allowance for the day of the competition.

  • Skin Checks to be done by officials or designee prior to the start of competition. Wrestlers will be marked as passed by officials.

  • Random Audit:  No later than 10 minutes prior to the start of wrestling, at minimum, one or more mats will be drawn at random to be audited. All wrestlers for that mat must then weigh in prior to competing.

    • Any wrestler more than 2 lbs over the weight class will be disqualified and his/her name recorded as if they had been challenged and failed (as set forth below).  No wrestler on an audit mat may be subsequently challenged during the tournament.

  • Challenge Procedure: Club President/designated agent/coach of unaffiliated wrestler for that tournament will be able to challenge the weight of any wrestler in the tournament who was not subject to the Random Audit. Any challenged wrestler must then weigh in immediately at the head table or designate location. If the wrestler is more than 2 lbs over the weight class he/she will be disqualified and his/her name recorded. If the challenge is unsuccessful, the Club that challenged failure will be recorded.

  • If a wrestler has been disqualified, for the next three (3) future tournaments/events, he/she must weigh in at the head table or designated location prior to the beginning of competition. A second missed weight will result in disqualification for the remainder of the season.

  • Once a club/unaffiliated wrestler has had 3 failed challenges, they will be ineligible to challenge for the remainder of the season.

  • If a wrestler is disqualified for the season they may appeal to their regional director for alternative consequences.
